Nursery Curriculum Statement

Summer Term 2011

The Mulberry Primary Nursery – Summer Term 2012 – Inclusion, Monitor, Places, Accelerated learning, Community cohesion, Teaching and learning : IMPACT

Welcome back to all our children and families!

Last term we noticed that a lot of the children liked to pretend they were going on journeys and to talk about the different forms of transport they had seen. As children learn through their play, we have decided to plan this term’s activities around transport, starting with cars and boats.
After half term, our theme will be Minibeasts, and we will also be helping the children to prepare a little book about themselves to take to their next class.

They will learn more and really enjoy the topic with your help!

Every week on the Nursery board are listed the activities that we will be covering. To support your child at home, please have a read through this and talk to them about some of the activities listed, for example, tell them stories about when they went on a trip, how they got there (by car, plane, train etc.) what they saw and what happened.

Name cards

You will see that we have taken the picture clue off the children’s name cards and have created a number line for them to add their name to as they come in. This will help to familiarise the children with their names and sequencing numbers.

Book Bags

We hope your child is enjoying taking a book home each week. Please share this book with your child by talking about the pictures with them and reading it with them. Reading often with your child is very important in terms of their future learning. We are very happy to give advice about reading so please talk to any member of staff. Some reminders

Hot weather

When the hot weather finally comes, please make sure that your child has adequate protection from the sun by providing a named sunhat and making sure they have sun protection cream applied before they come to Nursery.
